Why Train at Altitude?
Altitude challenges the body to use oxygen more efficiently. This can produce benefits such as increased power, speed, endurance and stamina, as well as reduced recovery time. These are performance benefits that your body would otherwise not achieve through typical training at sea level. Learn more about the science behind training at altitude.
What Elevation Will I Be Training At?
Toronto sits at approx. 250 ft (76 m) above sea-level where there is approx. 20.9% oxygen in the air. In our altitude room, we reduce this percentage to simulate an elevation of 9,000 ft (2743.2 m) which equates to an oxygen level of 15.0%. The facility is at this elevation throughout the week, aside from Sundays, when we remain at sea-level for fitness assessments (or your own sea-level workouts).
WHAT’S THE FACILITY/ EQUIPMENT LIKE?
Altitude Athletic Training is one of the largest indoor altitude training facilities in the world. At 1,200 square-feet, our reduced-oxygen room offers state-of-the-art technology and equipment such as treadmills that double as sled-push tools, 8-gear spin bikes and strength training tools like kettlebells, dumbbells and squat racks.
